Winners of the 2014-2015 Bioethics Prizes and Grants

The jury has announced the winners of this year's awards

Research grants:
 
Loreto María García Moyano of the University of Zaragoza for: Constructo de un instrumento para cuantificar el compromiso profesional en enfermería. [Constructing a tool to quantify professional commitment in nursing.] (at home picture)


Lydia Feito Grande and Tomás Domingo Moratalla of the Complutense University in Madrid for: Bioética narrativa: aplicación del modelo en el ámbito clínico y educativo. [Narrative bioethics: applying the model in the clinical and educational setting.]


The team led by Maite Cruz Piqueras of the Andalucian School of Public Health for: La no vacunación como punto de encuentro: analizando discursos para tender puentes. [Non-vaccination as a meeting point: analyzing discourse to build bridges.]


To Elena Lauroba of the University of Barcelona for: La protección jurídica de las personas intersexuales: repensar desde el derecho las asignaciones (¿arbitrarias?) de género. [The legal protection of intersex people: reconsidering the (arbitrary?) assignation of gender from a legal perspective.]


To Sonia Jimeno Ramírez of the University of Barcelona for: Las patentes biotecnológicas: En los límites de la legalidad. [Biotechnological patents: at the limits of legality.]


To Gemma Robleda and Josep E. Baños of Pompeu Fabra University Barcelona for: "L'avaluació del dolor en persones adultes sense capacitat de comunicació. Una anàlisi bioètica en les unitats d'hospitalització de pacients crítics". [Evaluating pain in adults without the capacity for communication. A bioethical analysis in hospitalization units for critical patients.]

 

Journalism prize:

 

The programme 30 minuts by TV3 for the report "Pacients en espera" [Patients waiting] broadcast on 1 June 2014.

 
Senior high school prize:

 

First prize to Marta Galisteo Garrido of Instituto Llavaneres for: Eugenèsia actual: cal intervenir per millorar la genètica humana? [Modern euthanasia: should we intervene to improve human genetics?]

 

Second prize to Mariona Asensio Pedrol i Júlia Marqués Espuga of Instituto Joaquima Pla i Farreras for: La intersexualitat, el trencament d'un esquema binari [Intersexuality: the breakdown of a binary system]


Third prize to Mireia Jaimot Pallejà of Escuela Arabell for Umbilical Cord Blood Stem Cells: Business or Science.


 

There were a total of 18 submissions for the journalism prize, 21 for the high school students prize, and 60 for the research grants.
