Call for abstracts for the conference will open in September

On 25 and 26 February 2027, the Fundació Grífols UVic-UCC Chair in Bioethics is organising the 4th International Congress on Bioethics in Vic, with the theme ‘Bioethics, responsibility and human dignity’. The aim is to examine the founding themes of bioethics in order to reflect on the current framework, taking into account the international landscape regarding the right to decide on one’s own death, the current situation of ethics committees, how bioethics can help address the challenges posed by AI, and how to ensure autonomy at the end of life.

 

The congress is structured around these four thematic areas:

  • Euthanasia: an international perspective
  • Rethinking ethics committees
  • Bioethics into AI
  • Autonomy at the end of life

 

This congress will combine keynote speeches with round-table discussions, in a format designed to encourage debate between experts and attendees. An event open to the public will also be held off-campus, allowing people from outside academic and professional circles to participate.

 

As in previous editions, the conference will include a section for presenting your research projects and initiatives, featuring two presentation sessions.

 

From 16 September to 16 November, the Call for abstracts for the conference will available, which must address one of the four thematic areas mentioned above.

 

Abstracts must be formatted as follows:

  • Title: in capital letters and bold.
  • Area: indicate which of the conference’s thematic areas the presentation addresses.
  • Authors: first name followed by surname(s) (compound names joined by a hyphen), separating each author with a comma, without stating their position. Then, in italics, the authors’ affiliation(s). Include the address and contact email.
  • Content: introduction, methodology, results/conclusions and references.
  • Funding: if the work has been funded or supported by a grant, this must be indicated at the end of the abstract.
  • Keywords: maximum of three words.
  • Abstract: maximum of 350 words (excluding references).
