75. La formación ética en salud pública
(Ethics training in public health)
To ensure that ethical principles are adequately applied to every aspect of public health practice, professionals need comprehensive training in the ethical issues they are likely to encounter throughout their careers. This includes being familiar with ethical criteria and respectful of health policies, programmes, and interventions. In Spain, however, formal training in public health ethics is not currently part of the regulated curriculum. With a few notable exceptions, ethics education depends largely on the commitment of individual educators who recognise its importance and are dedicated to promoting it.
This publication examines the core content and teaching methodologies that should form part of a public health ethics curriculum, while exploring the perspectives and responsibilities of both educators and students in ethics education.
