Customised bioethics courses
We organise customised training for healthcare professionals upon the request of institutions, focused on exploring bioethical challenges that emerge in clinical practice. This training is designed for members of Healthcare Ethics Committees (HECs), members of Ethical Reflection Spaces in Social Services (ERESS in Spanish), and other professionals seeking more specialised training in bioethics.
While we primarily offer introductory courses in bioethics, we also provide thematic courses —upon institutional request—covering topics such as deliberation and methodology in ethics committees, confidentiality, research ethics, informed consent, limitation of therapeutic effort, end-of-life care, and more.
Introductory Courses on Bioethics -In-person format-
This in-person training, available exclusively upon institutional request, introduces professionals to the ethical dimensions of healthcare, with particular emphasis on key concepts such as human rights, dignity, deontology, ethics and morality, as well as the origins and foundational principles of bioethics. Once these theoretical foundations are established, the training shifts its focus to bioethics in clinical practice, exploring specific thematic areas and approaches to ethical decision-making. Throughout the course, participants examine practical case studies to apply the knowledge they have gained.
“Bioethics in Clinical Practice” Online Course -Online format-
In addition to our tailored courses, every year we offer a 25-hour online course, “Bioethics in Clinical Practice,” which lasts two months and can be completed by students at their own pace. The course is organised by the Fundació Grífols UVic-Ucc Chair in Bioethics and the Uvic-Ucc Chair in Palliative Care and is taught at the UVic Campus. This training programme is accredited by the Catalan Council for Continuing Education in Health Professions and is also eligible for subsidised funding through FUNDAE for organisations. It includes eight online teaching modules and two live sessions with tutors.
