The Víctor Grífols i Lucas Foundation awards six grants for research in bioethics. The grants, each worth 6000 euros, are awarded to research projects to be undertaken on any issue related to bioethics and its practical application.

The Foundation awards grants to projects that address topics in bioethics—ranging from clinical context and basic research to more technical or theoretical research.

Promoting research

Since its inception, the Foundation has supported numerous initiatives that encourage both the development and dissemination of bioethical research.  Among these are the awarding of grants and prizes, which provide financial support for research projects. These grants are open to individuals and groups alike, from young researchers to established teams requiring funding to advance their work.

Eligible projects may come from diverse fields—such as health, law, care, philosophy, or education—provided they incorporate an ethical dimension. The bioethics grant program was one of the Foundation’s first initiatives, launched in 2000. Since then, more than 100 projects have received funding.

Boosting professional careers

These grants are primarily awarded to young researchers and health professionals seeking to embark on their careers in bioethics. Many of the supported projects have led to publications in high-impact journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, The British Medical Journal, and Medicina Clínica, helping recipients to take their first steps in academic research.

For many researchers, this financial support has meant a decisive boost to their professional development, with many now recognised as leading researchers, professionals, and university professors. Alongside scholarships and other bioethics awards granted annually by the Foundation, the total funding dedicated to promoting research over the years now exceeds €700,000.
