The Foundation has taken part in a documentary about maternity, produced by Catalan channel TV3
The Foundation has taken part in a documentary about maternity, produced by Catalan channel TV3
The programme includes contributions from Victoria Camps, president of the Foundation, and also incorporates images and conclusions from the workshop, Thinking About Maternity, held in November.
The documentary, screened as part of TV3's Sense Ficció strand, explains that, at almost 31 years, the maternal age in Catalonia is one of the highest in the world. At the same time, Catalonia has one of the lowest fertility rates in Europe: just 1.3 births per woman, compared to a replacement rate of 2.1.
These trends have become more pronounced over recent decades, and are joined by a third statistic: for the first time since records began, one in four Catalan women will have no children. Sometimes this is out of choice, but often it is because they are unable to, even with assisted reproduction.
The Foundation ranks fifth in an evaluation of the leading Spanish foundations.
The report "Construir Confianza 2018" (building trust), compiled by Fundación Compromiso y Transparencia, puts the Víctor Grífols i Lucas Foundation in fifth place in its ranking of the most transparent organizations in the family foundation category. This report evaluates the transparency and governance of Spanish foundations, based on the information published on their websites.
The foundation is in the fifth position. However, it is not included in the top rankings because it does not publish an auditor's report, which this study deems essential, although none of the circumstances specified by the legislation in this area would require the foundation to produce audited accounts.
Maria Blasco will bring her scientific experience to bear on the study and promotion of bioethics.
Agreement to work on joint projects and raise the profiles of both institutions.
The agreement will disseminate the Audiovisual Prize for a Bioethics Project and will promote screenings of films that address topics related to bioethics as part of this year's Gaudí Season.
