The Economy for the Common Good by Christian Felber (UAB)
November 24, 2014
Christian Felber, a writer and professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business was invited by the Víctor Grífols i Lucas Foundation to deliver two conferences in Barcelona that revolved around the concept of the Economy for the Common Good, which he has devised. The conferences took place on November 24 at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and on November 25 at the Cercle d'Economia.
The Economy for the Common Good is an alternate economic model to both, capitalism and to planned economies, and it rewrites the rules of the current system to resolve the contradiction in values that exists between the market and society. Contrary to what happens in the current system, the Economy of Common Good is not based on financial profits and on competition, but on a positive contribution towards common good and cooperation, benefiting the same human values that make possible our relationships with others.
