Abuse on Social Media with “Diary of My Sextortion”
October 1st at 6:30 PM
“Diary of My Sextortion” is a documentary that explores a ransomware case experienced by its protagonist and director, Patricia Franquesa. After her laptop is stolen, a hacker begins to extort her by threatening to share highly intimate photos with her contacts. Faced with the inefficacy of legal and police forces, the protagonist embarks on an investigation into the dangers and challenges of private data in modern society.
The aim of the documentary is to question the apparent sense of security we feel regarding our personal data and the vulnerability we face. In this vein, the activity invites reflection on how to deal with similar situations in which intimate information is exposed, and what we can do to prevent them.
We invite you to this event, which will include a screening of the documentary followed by a discussion with Patricia Franquesa, the film’s director, and Núria Terribas, director of the Víctor Grífols i Lucas Foundation.
