The Josep Egozcue Lectures are now well established as an annual event at which the Víctor Grífols i Lucas Foundation invites experts in bioethics to discuss a topical issue. After the interruption forced upon us by COVID, we resume our activity this year, with a discussion of artificial intelligence (AI) and its application to health.

AI is already having an impact in society in general and in the health sphere in particular. However, while it brings undeniable technological benefits, it is also important to consider other aspects of the health sphere that are affected. How does it affect patient autonomy? Are diagnostic algorithms safe? Does it threaten confidentiality? Who is responsible for possible errors?

We invited Victoria Camps (president of the Víctor Grífols i Lucas Foundation), Mariarosaria Taddeo (lecturer and researcher at the University of Oxford), Harry Farmer (researcher at the Ada Lovelace Institute), Felip Miralles (director of the Digital Health Unit, EURECAT), Juliana Ribera (Medical Consultant and Amalfi Analytics) and  Alicia de Manuel (Researcher at OEIAC) to discuss these issues
