null Carol Gilligan will analyse the ethics of care, a feminist ethics that focuses on caring for the patient as a person and on human relationships

Barcelona, 26 March 2013./ The 6th Annual Josep Egozcue Lectures will be held on 17 and 18 April, organized by the Fundació Víctor Grífols i Lucas in collaboration with the Diputación de Barcelona, with Carol Gilligan as guest speaker. The Professor of Humanities and Applied Psychology at New York University will talk about the ethics of care.

A leading proponent of the ethics of care, she argues for the existence of differences between the development of moral awareness in men and women. According to Gilligan, while men place an emphasis on rules and justice, women ascribe more importance to emotional relationships and empathy. In this sense, the ethics of care is a feminist ethics, an ethics that stresses the humanity of the patient.
