null Improved 'in vitro' fertilization techniques offer success rates of up to 40 per cent


Barcelona, 7 May 2014./ The Víctor Grífols i Lucas Foundation, in partnership with the Diputación de Barcelona, yesterday organized a workshop to commemorate 30 years of assisted reproduction techniques (ART), to coincide with the anniversary of the birth of Victoria-Anna, the first girl to be conceived by in vitrofertilization in Spain.

The event reflected on the progress that has been achieved in these techniques, and the legislative, scientific and ethical issues that have seen major developments during this time. The event included lectures by Dr Anna Ve

Barri, Director of the Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproduction Department at Quirón-Dexeus University Hospital, and Guido Pennings, Professor of Ethics and Bioethics at the University of Ghent. These were followed by discussion sessions that brought together specialists from a number of fields to provide an interdisciplinary perspective on the issues.
