Spaceship Earth, Science, Ethics and Cinema

from 8 to 26 March

In 1991, eight people enclosed themselves inside a spectacular replica of the earth's ecosystem for two years. The experiment aroused great excitement in the media but was soon forgotten. Is it possible to create a sustainable ecosystem? Could this be a solution to climate change? Does "Biosphere 2" constitute a scientific experiment?

This documentary raises lots of questions for bioethical reflection. Instead of the usual matinee sessions organized as part of the Americana Film Fest, this year we will be offering an online activity, consisting of:

  • Screening of the documentary in English, with Spanish subtitles.
  • Debate in the classroom, with teacher and students.
  • Students will have to record a 3-minute video with their conclusions.
  • Centres will receive a montage with images of all participants.
  • To help you carry out the activity, we will provide a video with instructions and a file with teaching material.

Activity for 4th year of ESO and 1st year of Bachillerato.
From 8 to 26 March.
Classrooms must have internet access (we will provide codes to watch the documentary on Filmin).

In partnership with:
Americana Film Fest and Department of Education of the Government of Catalonia.
