Seminar “Euthanasia: ethical, legal and administrative challenges under the LORE”

27 June

Jointly organized by the Víctor Grifols Foundation and the Mémora Foundation, this seminar offered an opportunity to discuss Spain’s recent legal framework regulating euthanasia and the challenges that have surfaced in the two years following the enactment of this law. Influenced by territorial differences across the country, discussion centred around people’s rights, the role of committees established to guarantee and evaluate euthanasia and the challenges faced by health professionals involved in the process.

Over 40 experts, including Maria Luísa Arcos, Juana Aza, Joan Berenguer, Josep Maria Busquets, Mercè Cervera, Elena Espinosa, Francesc Jose Maria, Núria Masnou, Begoña Roman, Serafín Romero, Gema Sáez, Carmen Tomás-Valiente, Núria Terribas and Albert Tuca, participated in the discussions on these topics.

Initiated in 2019, this collaborative relationship between the Víctor Grifols Foundation and the Mémora Foundation is part of the “Ciudades que Cuidan” (Cities that Care) Project. This initiative aims to minimize the occurrence of deaths among individuals in vulnerable situations and those experiencing unwanted loneliness.
