The Josep Egozcue Lecture Series has returned, offering a chance to engage in discussions with bioethics experts on important issues. This year, the focus revolves around the need for the care of people at different stages or moments in life, a situation which poses a challenge for all parties involved.
Progressive ageing coupled with the increased longevity of the population often results in greater dependency and the need for care among these individuals. This situation calls for reflection and analysis on how best to provide care for this vulnerable group.
It is the field of bioethics that is tasked with the work of examining these aspects and we are committed to doing so by seeking out insights from experts such as Joan C. Tronto (Professor Emeritus, University of Minnesota). A pioneering figure in the realm of ethics of care, Tronto has directed her attention towards its political dimension, recognising the fundamental role that care plays in fostering a fair, democratic and healthy society.
The lectures will also feature Victoria Camps, philosopher and president of the Fundació Víctor Grífols i Lucas, who will deliver a talk on the concept of care as a universal right and responsibility.

Join us as we celebrate the 25-year history of our foundation. During this event, we will present our commemorative book capturing the essence of this milestone and also announce the recipients of our Awards and Grants for 2023.
This commemorative book features contributions from our collaborators on significant topics in bioethics. To discuss these issues, we have also organised a round table event with Victòria Camps, Marc Antoni Broggi, Anna Veiga, Ramón Bayés, Salvador Macip and Milagros Pérez-Oliva.
Following the discussions, we will announce the recipients of our Bioethics Grants and Awards comprising six research grants, three secondary school awards and an audiovisual award.
At the end of the event, we will raise our glasses in a toast to commemorate this remarkable quarter century milestone.
