Maria holds a journalism degree, with a specialization in business communications. She has pursued a career in the pharmaceutical and health sectors, where her previous employers include Sandoz and the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu.

In 2008 she joined the communications department of Grifols, and started working with the Foundation on communication projects, events organization and publications. Since 2013 she has been the Foundation's project coordinator.
